CNC Lathe Machinist – Traverse City, MI
Pay: $20-$32+/hr (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:00am – 2:30pm

Position Overview
The Machinist is responsible for producing precision machined parts to blueprint specifications using CNC and/or manual equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and related machinery. This role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machines safely and efficiently
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
• Measure and inspect parts using precision gauges
• Adjust programs or machine settings to maintain quality and output
• Change tooling as needed
• Monitor production to ensure parts meet company and customer standards
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
• Load and unload parts (with assistance when required)

Skill Levels
Machinist I (Entry Level)

• Runs machines with supervision
• Executes existing programs
• Follows detailed setup and work instructions
• Typically less than 2 years of experience

Machinist II (Intermediate)

• Performs setups with minimal supervision
• Edits programs and runs multiple machine types
• Works independently on standard production jobs
• Typically 2+ years of experience and/or technical training

Machinist III (Advanced)

• Performs complex setups independently
• Writes and modifies programs
• Machines tight-tolerance or complex parts
• Runs multiple machines at a high level
• Typically 5+ years of experience and strong technical background

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong blueprint reading skills
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges
• Advanced math skills
• Experience with G-code or conversational programming
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment
• Ability to manage time and maintain high quality standards
