Position Title: Computational Biologist, Metagenomics

Position type: One year contract with enhance benefits

Pay rate: $60-70/hour.

Overview
The Bioinformatics Scientist will provide expertise in bioinformatics methods to our product development teams with bioinformatics pipelines and analysis towards better and more affordable cell therapy, personalized medicine solutions.

Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate thrives on the applications of NGS data analysis and is passionate about learning.
  • Develops new and relevant data analyses, build and deploy the bioinformatics pipelines for NGS analysis
  • Review, implement, troubleshoot, and improve analytic analysis methods developed by others internally or externally.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing computational tools and resources for analysis of large biological data sets.
  • Capable of effective communication within the team as well as to other stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Nextflow pipeline development tool
  • Required demonstrable experience with gene-targeted, meta-transcriptomics, and/or metagenomics data analysis.
  • Required hands-on experience in analyzing bulk NGS data
  • Hands-on work experience with large complex data sets, programming languages such as Python and R, and translation of results to a non-technical audience.
  • Outstanding collaboration skills that enable effective partnerships with professionals from different technical backgrounds.
Preferred
  • BS with 5+ years, MSc with 3+ years, or Ph.D. with 2+ years relevant experience, or equivalent, in a quantitative field, e.g., Bioinformatics, Computation Biology, etc.
  • Relevant experience in biotech preferred.
  • Experience in high-performance computing and/or cloud computing.
  • General understanding of molecular biology and wet lab 'omics technologies is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of software design principles including git, docker, and markdown documentation.
  • Experience with optimization and statistical data analysis tools is a plus.
  • A proven track record in translating complex biological questions into computational tools that solve problems is a plus.
