Sr. Director/Director, Business Development & Corporate Strategy

The Client® Science & Clinical is seeking a Sr. Director/Director, Business Development & Corporate Strategy for a direct-hire position at a cutting-edge client in Seal Beach, CA. Salary: $177,674 – $250,000 (max)
Bonus
Schedule: Monday– Friday, on-site in Seal Beach, CA
Up to 50% travel domestically and internationally required
Overview
This client is an industry-leading company advancing immunotherapy and manufacturing innovative cancer treatments. You will be vital to the Client's growth by driving strategic partnerships, leading deal execution, and supporting the expansion of CDMO business as well as sourcing and evaluating new late-stage (Phase II/III), first-in-class therapeutic assets.
Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key corporate strategist to identify, evaluate, and lead strategic transactions and investments aligned with Client's business strategy, focusing on high-impact opportunities for external innovation and investment.
  • Lead the search, evaluation, and acquisition of innovative clinical- to commercial-stage therapeutic assets, with an emphasis on immunotherapy, urology, oncology, and other advanced modalities (e.g., ADCs, biologics, cell therapies).
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute term sheets and definitive agreements for BD and CDMO transactions.
  • Develop and execute a business development plan to position the Client as a preferred CDMO partner, engaging with prospective partners and representing the Client at relevant conferences and in client-facing discussions.
  • Partner cross-functionally (with Clinical, Technical Operations, Regulatory, Legal, R&D) to evaluate international assets and collaborations, support CDMO business development, and engage with financial and investment partners.
  • Prepare and present executive summaries, board materials, and strategic recommendations based on external opportunity assessments.
  • Coach and mentor a direct report (BD associate) who supports scheduling and admin duties.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree required: MBA, PhD, MD, or equivalent scientific or financial training required.
  • 7+ years or 10+ years of progressive business development experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated track record in leading BD, M&A, licensing, or investment transactions from sourcing through execution.
  • Strong understanding of complex therapeutic modalities, such as ADCs, biologics, and cell therapies.
  • Deep financial acumen (valuation modeling, risk/return analysis, and deal structuring).
  • Executive presence and excellent cross-functional communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to build trust internally and externally; able to influence stakeholders across Clinical, Technical Ops, Regulatory, and Legal.
  • Deal Sheet Required
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board-level exposure or experience presenting to board/investment committees.
  • Experience supporting or leading CDMO strategy/partnerships, especially experience from China.
  • Strong network within the VC/PE community; experience with early- to mid-stage biotech.
