Electrical Engineer
 
Kelly® Engineering is searching for Electrical Engineers with at least 5 years' experience for multiple direct hire positions with our client, a fast-growing organization that develops & manufactures advanced autonomous aerial platforms and next-generation unmanned flight technologies used in high-performance, mission-critical environments. They've been awarded multiple prime contracts with the US Navy & US Air Force, due to their ability to provide cost-effective solutions such as high-volume production, improved design and using lower cost components. Their prime vendor status has led to exponential growth. They have the security of a larger organization while also retaining the culture of a startup. They have openings for Level III – Level VI engineers at their San Luis Obispo, CA (HQ) and for Level V-Level VI engineers in their soon to be opened facility in the Ft. Worth area.

Overview 
 
You'll lead and/or individually contribute to the hardware design efforts for the development & manufacturing of electrical systems. This will include design of PCBs and components, microcontrollers, wire harnesses & routing, analog & digital circuit design. You'll be responsible for prototyping, supporting testing & release to production. You'll work with software & mechanical engineering, as well as manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and test electrical systems, wire harnesses and components for aircraft systems
    • Develop and debug microcontroller systems and circuits
    • Design circuit boards that are used in power control modules, sensing modules, and flight control modules.
    • Design & route wire harnesses
    • Schematics and PCB layout
  • Work with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical systems
  • Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation for electrical systems
  • Act as the Avionics liaison between engineering and the production line.
  • Address and close out non-conformances from the production line.
  • Develop and perform electrical tests and test procedures to verify system functionality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality electrical systems

Qualifications:
Electrical Engineer III–IV
  • 5+-10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong foundation in analog/digital circuit design, power systems, and hands-on hardware development.
  • Experience supporting system integration and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Altium & circuit design tools

Electrical Engineer V–VI
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with at least 5 years in aerospace, autonomous aerial systems or UAVs
  • Deep expertise in analog/digital circuit design, CAN bus communication, power systems, embedded hardware systems, system-level electrical integration.
  • Proven ability to address and close non-conformance issues
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical decision-making, mentoring, and project management and execution
  • Knowledge of advanced electrical testing procedures and tools.

All Levels (III-VI)
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong experience with analog/digital circuitry, power systems, and CAN communication.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Due to program requirements and associated security regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in avionics, unmanned systems, or automotive/safety-critical hardware.
  • Background in board-level and component-level design.
  • Experience with advanced electrical testing, validation, and verification processes.
  • DFM

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Salary range: $130,000 – $220,000 plus overtime, range depend on level and experience (EE III–VI).
