FEA Analyst

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced FEA Analyst to conduct structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses on products and assemblies. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter, adept at working in fast-paced environments, and able to effectively communicate results and optimization opportunities to our engineering team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform various types of FEA analysis, including:
    • Linear/non-linear static, quasi-static, and dynamic analysis
    • Normal modes, frequency response, and random response analysis
    • Optimization studies using physics-based and data-driven methods
  • Independently determine boundary conditions for large, complex non-linear models under implicit and explicit environments
  • Generate 2D shell and 3D tetra meshes on intricate geometries meeting stringent quality criteria
  • Debug solution sequences and update models for convergence
  • Develop internal FEA methods and specifications to align with customer requirements
  • Provide technical feedback to customers and/or engineers on FEA outputs, design, and optimization results
  • Conduct correlation studies between FEA and test data, identify discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and update models
  • Conduct fatigue and thermal mechanical analyses
  • Generate material curves from raw stress-strain data
  • Edit input decks (.inp, .bdf, .rad, .fem)

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Mechanics, or a related field
  • Industry Experience: 3-5 years of experience in FEA or automotive design is preferred

Core Competencies:

  • Proficiency in FEA meshing tools and pre/post processors
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics and dynamics, failure theories, heat transfer, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with implicit/explicit and NVH FEA simulations
  • Familiarity with CAD software/models
  • Experience with plastics, elastomers, and anisotropic materials is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
