Materials Inventory System Specialist (Contract)
Location: Lenexa, KS
Duration: 8 Months
Schedule: 15 hours per week — Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Compensation: $23.00 per hour
We are searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Materials Inventory System Specialist to join our team for an 8-month contract in Lenexa, KS. This specialist will play a key role in supporting the MRO Materials Manager, implementing inventory management best practices, and ensuring the timely, accurate handling of stock and non-stock items. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong initiative, and works effectively with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Replenish inventory using FIFO methods and update electronic records
- Pull and stage parts to fulfill Maintenance Work Orders
- Process non-stock/spare part receipts; notify Maintenance personnel of arrivals
- Conduct cycle counts and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Review and adjust inventory stocking levels quarterly
- Maintain all storage locations, including remote and on-site areas
- Lead efforts in obsolescence, consolidation, and standardization
- Assist with Bills of Materials (BOM) and repair vs. replacement policies
- Utilize MS Office Suite for reporting and documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace and adhere to PPE and safety protocols
- Carry out other duties related to the Maintenance Storeroom as assigned
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year in industrial or manufacturing MRO Materials Management
Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Prefer experience with inventory management databases (Asset Essentials, Maximo, SAP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in basic mathematics and deductive problem-solving
- Safe operation of material handling equipment (dolly, pallet jack, fork truck)
Other:
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 20 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, occasionally climb, kneel, or crouch
Physical & Safety:
- Visual accuracy and manual dexterity for data entry and material handling
- Compliance with company safety policies and procedures
