Position: Maintenance Worker (Temporary, Part-Time)
Pay Range: $16 - $20/hour
Hours: Less than 30 hours per week (Flexible hours Monday - Friday) Position Summary
The Studio Facility Assistant position is a temporary, part-time role located at the Corning Museum of Glass, staffed through Kelly Services. Reporting to the Senior Facility Manager, The Studio, this position will support daily operations and the maintenance of The Studio and its workshops. This assignment runs from February to December 2025, with potential for extension. The role focuses on creating and maintaining a safe and well-organized environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Care & Maintenance
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and biannual preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Use hand and power tools to maintain glass working and general facility equipment.
- Ensure proper organization and cleanliness of equipment and working areas.
- Stock and maintain supplies as needed.
- Follow Studio and facility protocols and procedures.
- Contribute to creating a positive, educational environment within The Studio.
- Maintain good relations with suppliers.
- Support the Museum's commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
- Assist with other tasks as directed.
- Working knowledge of hand and power tools is required.
- General knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work is required; prior experience is preferred.
- Represent the Corning Museum of Glass professionally at all times.
- Adhere to all Museum and departmental policies.
- Be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills while multitasking in a deadline-driven environment.
- Handle high customer demands with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Flexibility in hours is necessary.
- Ability to regularly move about, use equipment, communicate, and detect various stimuli.
- Frequently required to remain stationary, ascend/descend, and reach.
- Specific vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish color and focus.
- Must frequently move or transport up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment includes both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled indoor spaces, with exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards.
- Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and practices to mitigate risks in the work environment.
