Description

Job Title: Mechanical Technician III
Job Summary:
Conduct performance and reliability testing on engines, components, and installations in test cells.
Additional Details:

  • 6-month position with possibility of extension
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; voluntary overtime available
  • Pay rate: $23–$30/hour, based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct performance and reliability testing on multiple and single cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls
  • Diagnose engine, component, system, control, and test cell problems and initiate resolution
  • Operate data acquisition systems; review, document, and maintain data and electronic files
  • Perform rig, engine, and component builds, tear down, and inspections
  • Inspect and measure components
  • Fabricate necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings; drill and tap material as necessary
  • Install engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs
  • Execute test plans assigned by Engineering and Lab staff
  • Utilize mechanic tools and measuring equipment, including dial indicators, torque wrenches, feeler gauges
  • Document time worked on projects and submit weekly spreadsheet
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with 5 years working on gasoline or diesel engines
  • OR graduate of automotive or diesel trade school
  • OR Associates degree in mechanical engineering technology
  • Gasoline or Diesel Engine experience (top priority)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Light fabrication work (drilling, tapping, welding)
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools
  • Thorough understanding of engine components and systems
  • Strong written, communication, and documentation skills
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are passionate about engine work and problem solving, with strong hands-on experience in gasoline and/or diesel engines. Recent graduates from accredited auto or diesel tech schools will also be considered.
