  • Pay Rate: $24/hr
  • Location: Phoenix, AZ 
  • Schedule: Day Shift, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Hybrid after training (3 days at home, 2 days in office)
  • Projected Duration: 2 years-contract
What's a typical day as a Medical Investigator? You will:
  • Conduct investigations involving allopathic physicians and physician assistants licensed in Arizona for quality-of-care and unprofessional conduct allegations.
  • Review complaints, draft notice letters, and reach out to complainants.
  • Request and review medical records or supporting documents, often via subpoena.
  • Organize case files, update case notes, and provide case status updates.
  • Interview respondents, complainants, patients, and witnesses.
  • Prepare case reports and memos for the Arizona Medical Board and present cases before the Board.
  • Occasionally testify before the Office of Administrative Hearings.
  • Prioritize, plan, organize, and conduct investigations—including site inspections.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
  • Experience reading and interpreting medical records.
  • Skill in producing timely and accurate investigative reports and documentation.
  • Ability to apply and interpret Federal and State statutes/rules governing investigations and medical practice.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills—including email.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Adobe PDF) knowledge.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma required; medical assistant or paralegal background a plus.
