Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician in Tampa, FL.
Long term Contract position
Shift: Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday 7am-3:30pm
Compensation: $20/hr

Position Summary
The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for performing both routine and non-routine microbiological testing and environmental monitoring activities to support sterile manufacturing operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and maintaining the integrity of the manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare equipment, supplies, and documentation required for environmental monitoring and laboratory testing.
- Don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including lab coat, scrubs, coveralls, or sterile garments as required.
- Conduct routine and investigational environmental monitoring of classified manufacturing, filling, and support areas, including monitoring of operational personnel.
- Collect viable and non-viable samples from facility cleanrooms and personnel.
- Collect critical utility samples (e.g., Water for Injection (WFI), Pure Air).
- Document sample collection, testing, and results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and ALCOA principles.
- Incubate and interpret samples.
- Enter data into GLIMS database.
- Operate environmental monitoring and laboratory equipment including MetOne particle counters, Pinocchio (Compressed Air), and air samplers.
- Perform visual inspection of media fill units for turbidity and microbial presence.
- Test WFI in accordance with established standard operating procedures, including Bioburden and endotoxin/enhancement testing.
- Perform non-routine monitoring and testing as part of laboratory investigations and validation activities.
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
- This position does not supervise direct reports.
- Internal team members within the sterile manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related Life Science discipline is required.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience within a cGMP-compliant industry preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to achieve 20/20 correctable vision.
- Commitment to maintaining proper personal hygiene.
- Ability to wear laboratory PPE and attire as required.
- Ability to gown aseptically and work in a controlled environment for extended periods (no makeup, jewelry, or fingernail polish permitted).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills with peers and management.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work full-time onsite, including overtime and weekends as required to achieve departmental objectives.
- Ability to comprehend and strictly adhere to SOPs, test methods, and cGMP regulations.
- Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated good work ethic, punctuality, and motivation.
- Fundamental knowledge of microbiological testing and environmental monitoring techniques.
