Purchasing Manager 
Location: East Hartford, CT
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $70,000–$90,000

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities for our contract manufacturing operations specializing in military-grade electronic assemblies and systems. This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for sourcing electronic components, managing suppliers, and ensuring compliance with defense industry regulations including ITAR, DFARS, and other FAR-related standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Procurement: Develop sourcing strategies for components, materials, and services supporting defense programs.

  • Supplier Management: Identify and manage suppliers with a focus on quality, cost, delivery, and regulatory compliance.

  • Cost Optimization: Negotiate pricing and terms to meet cost targets while ensuring product and service quality.

  • Compliance & Quality Support: Collaborate with quality teams to monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions.

  • ERP Management: Use ERP system to manage POs, forecasts, and supply chain KPIs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, sales, and quality to meet customer and program needs.

Qualifications
  • 5–7+ years of purchasing/supply chain experience

  • Strong knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, and MIL-SPEC compliance

  • Experience in defense or aerospace electronics preferred

  • Skilled in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience
  • AS9100/ISO 9001 familiarity

  • Low- to mid-volume/high-mix electronics manufacturing

  • Counterfeit component mitigation practices
