Quality Engineer

  • Location: La Vergne, TN 37086
  • Position Type: Onsite
  • Salary - 80k - 95k (Excellent Benefit package)

  Position Summary

The Quality Engineer supports both the Advanced Quality and Quality Systems teams by driving process capability improvements, solving complex technical issues, and implementing advanced quality planning processes.

This role focuses on strengthening all facets of the quality system, resolving local and regional quality challenges using structured problem-solving methodologies, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with internal teams and external customers to ensure long-term product integrity and operational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple quality improvement projects using foundational quality tools and methodologies

  • Resolve quality issues by identifying root causes, evaluating solution options, and implementing corrective action plans

  • Support plant-level product quality improvement using:

    • Six Sigma

    • Design of Experiments (DOE)

    • Product and Process Understanding (PPU)

    • Quality at the Source principles

  • Facilitate structured problem-solving techniques (A3, 8D, RCCA/CAPA, etc.) to ensure effective corrective actions

  • Assist with procedure creation, documentation control, and compliance tracking

  • Ensure product design intent and integrity are maintained as materials, processes, equipment, methods, and specifications evolve

  • Analyze trend data on recurring issues and drive improvements in CAPA effectiveness

  • Address quality issues related to process capability, tolerancing, and materials

  • Support Smart Factory initiatives by ensuring accurate data inputs and tracking systems

  • Collaborate with customers, engineering, and internal quality teams to:

    • Identify critical-to-quality characteristics

    • Review manufacturability

    • Recommend specification or tolerance modifications to enable cost-effective production

  • Manage and maintain the Document Control System to ensure regulatory and internal compliance

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by business and quality leadership

Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Metallurgy

Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with:

    • Capability Studies

    • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

    • Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R)

    • Calibration systems

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills (A3, 8D, RCCA/CAPA, etc.)

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and balance strategic and tactical priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
