Johnson & Johnson is rapidly expanding and is immediately hiring a qualified R&D Technician to support production demand and new product development.

Position Summary:

Develop innovative technologies and products for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia. Support activities related to Research and Development engineering and prototyping services for Biosense Webster's Core Technologies group.


Job Title: R&D Medical Device Technician
Pay Rate: $30-$33 Hourly (depending on skills assessment test)
1st Shift:

Job Responsibilities/ Requirements: 

  • Builds new devices based on engineering designs and/or verbal instructions.
  • Clearly and completely documents work performed.
  • Checks basic layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
  • Requisitions equipment and materials; performs vendor and equipment analysis for engineers to determine feasibility.
  • Supports designed experiments and capability studies, collects documents, and files records on process specifications.
  • Collects design documentation and puts together training packets on new processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures and other safety precautions within the work area.
  • Follows standardized procedures to perform his/her tasks, when applicable.
  • Maintains his/her work area clean and organized.
  • Initiates, adjusts and operates basic laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
  • Performs basic operational diagnostics tests, solves problems and troubleshoots components, subassemblies and manufacturing systems, processes and equipment with the purpose of isolating the failures, finding solutions, and perform the necessary operations, documenting all the changes.
  • Ensures that the tools and testing equipment are properly calibrated and repaired, according to the standardized operations procedures.
  • Provides design support for R&D efforts.
  • Provides support for engineering change orders.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

Education/Experience:
  • 4 to 6 years of experience, preferably related to the position.
  • Experience performing delicate assembly tasks (e.g., soldering, gluing) of small components, under a microscope.
  • Ability to work using a microscope for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineers and other Technicians.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers.
  • Ability to provide “active involvement” in the solution of problems and problem resolution.
  • Capacity to solve problems by providing good judgment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific business practices and software and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail).
  • Able to enter data on spread sheet and database applications.
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures and to follow civil rights requirements.
