Kelly® Science & Clinical is partnering with a Minnesota-based company to hire a Senior Research and Development Chemist. This individual will lead formulation development for personal care, cosmetic, and OTC products, including sunscreens and anti-acne treatments. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership experience.

Job Opportunity: This is a direct-hire opportunity for a seasoned chemist looking to lead innovation in a regulated, fast-paced environment.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
Salary: $80,000–$110,000
Employment Type: Direct-Hire / Permanent


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize formulations from concept to commercial scale.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and internal quality protocols.
  • Scale up approved formulas and identify critical process variables.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and batch inconsistencies.
  • Write product specifications and compounding procedures.
  • Oversee pilot batches and manage lab personnel.
  • Conduct raw material research and vendor assessments.
  • Analyze lab findings and offer strategic recommendations.
  • Supervise and mentor lab staff while staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience
  • (or advanced degree with 6+ years).
  • Proven background in personal care or OTC product formulation.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulations and cGMP compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and formulation software.

Preferred:

  • MS or PhD with 10+ years of experience in personal care product development.
