Technical Service Manager | Earth City, MO
Direct Hire
  The Technical Service Manager will lead service operations for critical care and respiratory medical devices, including ventilators, suction pumps, and medical gas delivery systems. This role is responsible for ensuring high equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and team performance across service, installation, and maintenance functions. 
 
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in biomedical equipment with proven leadership and operational management skills. 
  Main Duties               Service Operations Management 

  • Develop and maintain a service engineering department that is committed to supporting customer success and excellent patient outcomes with Allied Medical products. 
  • Complete and oversee preventive maintenance (PM), calibration, and corrective repairs of:  Critical care ventilators, Surgical and portable suction pumps, medical gas delivery and pipeline systems 
  • Ensure rapid response and resolution of service calls, minimizing equipment downtime. 
  • Develop and monitor KPIs (response time, first-time fix rate, compliance rates, uptime metrics). 
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance 
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex technical issues. 
  • Ensure all service activities meet manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE, ISO 13485 where applicable). 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service records, calibration certificates, and compliance reports. 
  • Oversee service audits and quality inspections. 
Regulatory & Safety Compliance 
  • Ensure compliance with local healthcare regulations and biomedical engineering standards. 
  • Maintain safety protocols for handling oxygen systems, pressurized gases, and life-support devices. 
  • Support hospital accreditation requirements related to medical equipment. 
Customer & Stakeholder Management 
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities. 
  • Conduct service review meetings and provide performance reports. 
  • Collaborate with sales and clinical teams to support new installations and product demonstrations. 
  • Manage service contracts, renewals, and warranty programs. 
Inventory & Asset Management 
  • Oversee spare parts inventory and forecasting. 
  • Ensure availability of critical components for life-support systems. 
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with OEM suppliers. 
Training & Development 
  • Train service technicians, customers, and internal stakeholders on new device models and updated service procedures. 
  • Conduct customer training on proper operation and basic troubleshooting of equipment. 
  • Promote continuous technical education and certification. 
  Skills, Qualifications, Competence Level 
 
ESSENTIAL  
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering – Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical or Equivalent 
Experience Required   
 
ESSENTIAL  
  • 5+  years' experience in medical device technical service or biomedical engineer applications 
  • 3+ years supervising a team or leading a department 
  • Understanding of medical device use and clinical impact 
  • In-depth understanding of life-support systems and respiratory therapy equipment. 
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and calibration procedures. 
  • Knowledge of hospital infrastructure systems related to medical gases. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities. 
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills 
 
DESIRABLE  
  • Experience with quality inspection processes and equipment. 
  • Experience in implementation of 5S methodologies. 
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and legal standards. 
  • Aware of FDA and ISO 13485 and 14971 expectations 
  • Aware of CGA standards and IEC 60601 requirements
