1st shift Toolmaker / Mold Maker - DIRECT HIRE
Location:
 Thomaston, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: $30–$38 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We're looking for a skilled Toolmaker / Mold Maker to join our team! This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and performance of plastic injection molds used in high-volume production. If you're experienced in precision tooling and enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, this is a great opportunity to grow your career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues related to injection molds and assembly equipment.
  • Set up and operate tool room equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, etc.
  • Work with complex miniature components using visual precision.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and use measuring tools to fabricate or modify tooling.
  • Create angles and radii to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance parts.
  • Mentor apprentices and assistants.
  • Support day-to-day unscheduled maintenance and tooling needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a Journeyperson card.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a plastics manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of injection mold processes and tooling.
  • Familiarity with common molding resins (e.g., polypropylene, polyethylene).
  • Commitment to quality standards and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to expand technical knowledge.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of PPE required on the production floor.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, lifting, pushing/pulling, crouching, and grasping.
