### Job Summary
The Memory Care Director will lead and oversee the operations of our memory care unit, ensuring high-quality care for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other cognitive impairments. This role requires a compassionate leader with expertise in memory care practices, a deep understanding of the unique needs of residents, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those in our care. The Memory Care Director will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, promote a caring community environment, and ensure regulatory compliance.
### Key Responsibilities
- **Program Development & Implementation:**
- Design and implement innovative memory care programs that address the individual needs and preferences of residents.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of memory care programs, making adjustments as necessary to improve resident outcomes.
- **Staff Management:**
- Recruit, train, and supervise memory care staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and compassion.
- Provide ongoing education and support to staff regarding best practices in memory care, including person-centered approaches.
- **Resident Care:**
- Develop and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals, families, and residents.
- Ensure that residents receive compassionate and person-centered care that respects their dignity and personal preferences.
- **Family Interaction:**
- Serve as a primary point of contact for residents' families, providing updates on care and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Offer support and resources to families navigating the challenges of caring for loved ones with memory impairments.
- **Regulatory Compliance:**
- Ensure that all aspects of memory care programming meet state and federal regulations and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident care, assessments, and incidents.
- **Community Relations:**
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and family members to promote awareness of memory care services.
- Participate in outreach activities to educate the community about memory-related issues and available resources.
### Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in memory care, dementia care, or a related field, with supervisory experience preferred, Activity Director Certificate.
- Strong knowledge of memory impairment disorders and their effects on individuals and families.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Certification in dementia care or related training preferred (e.g., Certified Dementia Practitioner, Alzheimer's Association certifications).
