POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Cost Accountant reports to the Director of Cost Accounting and is based out of our Cherry Hill location. The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for administering the accounting functions of the manufacturing plants. This includes preparation of all accounting and financial data in accordance with US GAAP.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Support all aspects of cost accounting for the Company
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow a monthly, quarterly, and year end close schedule
- Demonstrate the ability to understand inventory costing methodology
- Complete the month end close for all manufacturing locations
- Create standard journal entries (labor and overhead allocations)
- Review manufacturing variances and provide analysis
- Complete work order accounting close and review variances for discussion with plants and costing teams and propose adjustments to Bills of Materials (BOM's) if needed
- Produce production, variance and other reports as needed by the Manufacturing team
- Review and analyze standard costs for variances and prepare reports
- Support annual financial statement audit as it relates to cost accounting topics
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all assigned balance sheet accounts, including the completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Act as a liaison between the plant managers and the corporate office
- Provide support for and collaborate with the FP&A team monthly, quarterly and annually to ensure complete and accurate results with meaningful variance commentary, including budget and forecast process
- Support cycle counts, annual physical inventory counts, and monitoring of inventory existence at third party facilities and external manufacturing sites
- Perform ad hoc analysis as requested
- Work closely with plant managers to provide financial expertise and guidance
- Participate in special projects as needed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage 1 employee
- Supervise and mentor plant accountant, assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance
- Regularly review plant accounting processes to identify and rectify errors and procedural updates
- Actively work with other plant clerical staff to ensure appropriate purchase order process and invoice submission in adherence with Company policies and internal controls, as well as inventory related adjustments
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required
- 3 - 5 years of cost and inventory accounting experience
- Experience in cost analytics
- Experience in manufacturing environment (food and beverage preferred)
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills

- Ability to collaborate successfully with others in the organization
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

- Previous ERP experience (QAD is a plus)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.
FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
