Job SummaryLeonardo DRS is seeking a full time Senior Buyer. This position is based out of our Bridgeton, MO facility but has the option to be a hybrid schedule or a remote worker. This position will generate and execute Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) compliant purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar necessary documents. These orders will be related to the purchasing of raw materials, components, and assemblies in the metal commodity (raw materials, machining, sheet metal, metal fabrication, castings, forgings, and extrusions).
Job Responsibilities- Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing within the metal commodity (raw materials and finished goods)
- Facilitate and manage any supplier issues (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, customer service)
- Manage all aspects of supplier including Accounts Payable holds
- Manage design changes (Engineering Change Notices) initiated by supplier requests or internal changes
- Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk
- Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with suppliers. Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of service agreements
- Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary
- Track and report cost savings or avoidances
- Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and related procurement records
- Communicate supplier performance including supplier visits as required
- Be the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers
- Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company
- Support proposal pricing strategies and associated source selection pricing justifications
- Participate in strategic decision making in the metal commodity, including supply base rationalization, long term agreements, dual sourcing, and price reduction efforts
- Initiate and support process improvements within the Supply Chain department
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Materials or related field or equivalent experience in related field
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing
- Experience purchasing within the metal commodity, with overall knowledge of material types, machining/fabrications processes, and metal sourcing strategies to support cost reduction and risk mitigation
- Ability to understand military specs and read blueprints
- Ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.
- Knowledge and use of price and cost analysis
- Strong negotiating skills
U.S. Citizenship required.
The expected pay scale for this position is $70,744.00/year - $101,163.00/year for the states of Illinois and Minessota, $77,818.00/year - $111.280.00/year for the state of Washington, and $81.356.00/year - $116.338.00/year for the state of California
Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly.
