The Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics business provides leading naval computing infrastructure, network and data distribution and middleware enterprise services, as well as world-class manufacturing and support capabilities.

This position requires work to be performed onsite in the following Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics locations:

• Computing and Networking Center of Excellence - Johnstown, PA
• Warehouse / Material Management Center (MMC) - Sidman, PA 

As a Supplier Quality Engineer for Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics, you will assist in the execution and delivery of our supplier quality strategy. Accountabilities include providing oversight of suppliers, ensuring regulatory requirements, and executing proactive and reactive actions aimed at improving the quality of the products and services.

• Responsible for assisting with supplier quality system/process development and supporting product and supplier quality improvements 
• Develop, maintain and deploy supplier quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities  
• Gather, organize, monitor, analyze and report on information on suppliers, products, and processes
• Provide ongoing supplier quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actions
• Participate on product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards
• Evaluate and dispose of non-conforming material during receiving inspection
• Provide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting and revising specifications, and processing non-conforming materials
• Assist in resolving customer and supplier quality issues
• Initiate and drive root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issues
• Assist in deploying Statistical Process Control (SPC) initiatives
• Participate in supplier selection and improvement processes
• Assist with on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing and approving of supplier corrective actions
• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
• Attend appropriate customer, business or program meetings
• Prepare supplier quality engineering reports and recommendations
• Provide regular reporting of progress and status
• Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience
• Novice technical expertise and application domain knowledge 
• Basic knowledge of ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
• ASQ certification preferred
• Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality requirements
• Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
• Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
