Title and Summary

Director, Accounting Overview:
This position is responsible for managing the financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing accurate and timely financial information to stakeholders. This role is predominately responsible for management reporting of consolidated results, external SEC reporting, technical accounting and oversight of business units and regional accounting teams, and projects that support financial processes across the organization. This position reports to the VP, Financial Reporting Controller.

Role:
1. Financial Reporting:
o Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),
o Responsible for the preparation of Non-GAAP and GAAP supporting schedules in connection with the Earnings Release and 10Q/10K Filings and earnings release and earning's scripts.
2. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
o Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
o Support Corporate Controllership team in the preparation of presentations and reports for quarterly earning preparations, the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
o Analyze complex accounting issues and provide guidance on technical accounting matters.
o Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly regional balance sheet analytics
o Review and analyze consolidated results in partnership with the Shared Services group.
3. Liaising with Shared Services Groups:
o Act as the primary liaison with shared services groups (e.g., Accounting Services, Revenue Services, Financial Systems, etc.).
o Ensure alignment and communication between all financial functions to facilitate accurate and timely financial reporting.
o Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise in collaboration with shared services teams.
o Identify and/or support process improvement initiatives; influence and partner to implement
4. Internal Controls and Compliance:
o Develop and maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
o Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requirements and facilitate periodic reviews and testing of internal controls.
o Coordinate with internal audit and/or SOX team to address any control deficiencies and implement necessary improvements.
o Oversee the preparation of SOX documentation and ensure effective implementation of control activities.
5. Technical Accounting Support:
o Owned the overall benefit and equity accounting process, including stock compensation, EPS, pension and post-retirement plans, severance, and equity transactions
o Oversee preparation and review of annual ASC 712 and Postretirement Welfare Plan (OPEB) actuarial valuation reports
o Provide ongoing accounting support and technical guidance to the finance team and other stakeholders.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
o Lead and mentor the financial reporting team, providing guidance and development opportunities.
o Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
7. Special Projects and Ad Hoc Reporting:
o Lead or participate in special projects as required, such as system implementations, and process improvements.
o Provide ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested.

All About You:
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting and CPA required
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance
• Experience setting strategy for process improvement initiatives along with developing procedures for implementation
• Demonstrated successful oversight of the management and resolution of high-risk issues to ensure completeness and efficiency
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with emphasis on building strong, longer-term relationships worldwide across varying geographies and functions
• Extensive experience delivering presentations and engaging with senior leadership
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in financial reporting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
