Overview:
You'll be joining the Mastercard Digital Partners team in France focusing on identifying and building partnerships throughout the non-traditional payments value chain to achieve continual growth in the French market. These partners represent some of the most entrepreneurial and innovative organizations Mastercard works with today.
You will report to the VP, Head of Digital Partners, taking responsibility for developing new Fintech partnerships and for leading the Mastercard For Fintechs program across France, working with stakeholders throughout these partner organizations to drive incremental Mastercard volume and future-proofing our business. Your focus will be to identify new business opportunities, develop tailored solutions for fintechs, and position Mastercard as their preferred partner in the payments ecosystem.
This role requires a deep understanding of the fintech landscape, strong business acumen, and the ability to align Mastercard's offerings with the specific needs of innovative fintech players. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager with a strong network to join our team in the rapidly growing Fintech space.
Role & Responsibilities:
In this client-facing position, you will:
• Take overall responsibility for developing new partnerships and businesses with fintechs and the fintech ecosystem in France: Identify, engage, onboard and negotiate with fintech prospects and partners, driving commercial conversations through to contract finalization and aiming to deliver innovative solutions that maximize mutual revenue and growth and expand Mastercard's footprint in France.
• Attend industry events, evaluate market trends, assess market opportunities and design go-to-market strategies of new businesses with a focus on card issuance, open banking, and security solutions;
• Develop strong relationships and understanding of the Fintech eco-system partners including Issuing enablers, incubators/accelerators and other relevant stakeholders in the market; Evaluate partnerships that could enhance Mastercard's offerings through strategic commercial agreements.
• Act as a trusted advisor to fintech partners, understanding their needs and presenting Mastercard solutions and partners that foster mutual growth;
• Collaborate with Mastercard Products and Services teams to create tailored solutions for fintech-specific challenges and ensure effective project implementation by coordinating with internal teams (Products & Services, Customer Delivery & Implementation..).
• Lead and operationally coordinate the Mastercard for Fintech program, collaborating with internal marketing and communications teams as well as external industry partners to organize targeted events and competitions for fintech partners.
All About You:
• Self- starter with a strong commercial & technological acumen; proven solution selling experience in fast paced, technology centric environment, ideally leaders or successful scale-ups of relevant industries e.g., including Payments, Fintechs, Financial Services, Fintechs, SaaS providers, Open Banking, or Consulting
• Acute understanding of the payment value chain and tech companies/business startups; Strong knowledge of the French fintech ecosystem, including key players, market trends, and regulatory environment.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills. Strong team spirit
• Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in both French and English.
• Proven ability to engage with C-suite executives and influence decision-making processes;
• Ability to navigate large organizations and influence without direct authority; Ability to build and maintain internal relationships with senior management and key stakeholders, gaining support for the strategic direction of the business;
• Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to translate complex challenges into actionable strategies.; Ability to understand and execute on key operational aspects, and attentive to details
• Collaborative and results-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Creative thinker who recognizes the value of alternative thinking.
• Comfortable in a multi-tasking environment and making prioritization decisions as needed to ensure successful delivery, able to give clear direction to team and customers alike.
• Educational background: Business School/MBA/Engineer/Masters.
