About the Role
The Biz Ops team is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). Biz Ops is responsible for production readiness of Mastercard products, ensuring platform stability and health. As an SRE, you will empower developers to build resilient products, support operational design, automation, capacity planning, and monitoring. You help set and enforce operational standards and foster an agile, learning culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of Mastercard applications.
• Support daily operations with a focus on triage, root cause analysis, and blameless post-mortems.
• Engage early in the development lifecycle to proactively manage production and change activities.
• Manage risk, compliance, and security across all environments.
• Align product and customer priorities with operational needs through continuous feedback.
About the Program You Support:
Mastercard Processing enables seamless, secure, and reliable payment transactions globally. It provides comprehensive solutions for transaction authorization, clearing, settlement, and fraud management, supporting various payment types and ensuring compliance with global and local regulations. With billions of transactions processed annually, the platform focuses on resilience, performance, and innovation, including real-time data insights and fraud prevention.

Required skills for candidates:

1. Operating Systems and Environment Management
• Proficient in navigating Linux systems (CLI, directory structure, permissions).
• Process management (ps, kill, priorities, load analysis).
• Resource monitoring (CPU, RAM, I/O, disks) – tools like top, htop, vmstat, iostat.
• Basic Windows administration; knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
• Ability to create scripts in Bash, Ansible, Python, or Perl.
• Experience managing Linux and Windows instances.
• Ability to create technical documentation.
• Previous experience in on-call rotation is appreciated.
2. Log Analysis and Processing
• Skilled in searching and filtering (grep, awk, sed).
• Sorting, aggregation, and pipeline processing.
• Correlating events in application and system logs.
3. Networking and Protocols
• Basic network traffic analysis (tcpdump, netstat).
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers.
• Knowledge of protocols and API design patterns (TCP, HTTP, TLS, JSON, MTLS, oAuth2).
• High availability and resilience concepts (clustering, failover, scaling, load balancing).
4. Load Balancers
• Understanding F5 load balancers (GUI configuration, pools, members, vservers, monitors).
5. DevOps and CI/CD Tools
• Git – repository management, conflict resolution.
• Jenkins – running and modifying jobs.
• Ansible, Chef, Terraform – automation and provisioning.
• Splunk – data search and analysis.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools: Zabbix, Grafana, Dynatrace.
• Familiarity with documentation tools: Confluence.
6. Databases
• Ability to write PL/SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN, filtering).
• Experience with Oracle or Postgres databases.
7. Certificates and Security
• Certificate management: issuance, renewal, keystore, truststore, bundle creation.
• Understanding of PKI.
8. Additional Competencies
• Ability to work independently and analytically.
• Problem-solving in production environments.
• Communication with development and operations teams.
• Basic ITIL exposure.
