Senior Data Scientist - Fraud Intelligence Who is Mastercard?

Mastercard Security Solutions team develops and delivers world-class risk, security products and services for Mastercard customers across the globe. As part of this organization, the Fraud Intelligence team is responsible for:
o Providing fraud analytics and insights to Mastercard and its worldwide customers
o Conducting analysis of transaction level data to develop new ways of detecting fraud
o Leveraging and utilizing AI models to provide automated transaction risk decisions
o Performing reverse engineer analysis on fraud attacks to identify the scheme, MO, and payment technologies
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build defense strategies to protect Mastercard and clients
o Identifying new product opportunities to help partners in the payment ecosystem reduce fraud and mitigate risk from fraud and data analytics
o  Maintaining and enhancing existing and new fraud prevention and monitoring data driven products/services

The Role
o Analyze and investigate fraud data to measure and report on key performance indicators to management and other internal/external stakeholders
o Proactively explore new theories that may lead to management briefings, product ideas, white papers or other thought leadership opportunities
o Develop reporting for internal stakeholders to summarize key trends and drivers to inform strategy and decision making
o Perform data pulls and development of reports/dashboards to support fraud analyses and development of fraud reduction solutions 
o Extract, and analyze large data sets from different sources to support the organization's fraud analytic needs and identify emerging risks  
o Support the refinement of existing methodologies and assess new approaches to proactively identify new fraud trends and support the development of product opportunities to prevent, detect, and mitigate these risks 
o Support the development of tools and methodologies to identify new payment transaction types and new technologies that are introduced and gain momentum, and with the education of various stakeholders on the meaning of the identified fraud trends and recommendations 
o Assist with the evaluation of new vendor/ software/ platforms to enhance the insights and dashboard for fraud analysis. Researching and staying current on advances in technology to identify internal opportunities for improvement

All About You

o Fraud/ Risk/ Cyber experience preferred.  Payment card industry experience plus
o Intermediate knowledge of SQL for querying various data platforms (e.g. Oracle, Hadoop Hive/Impala/Spark, etc.)
o Intermediate knowledge of Python (Pandas, Numpy, Pyspark) to perform exploratory data analysis, data cleaning and processing
o Intermediate knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc)
o Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, including significant experience with PowerPoint and Excel in presenting data insights
o Preferred: basic knowledge of Unix / Linux platforms (including command line, shell scripting)
o Expert knowledge of statistical analysis/ predictive modeling/ machine learning, aptitude in displaying and communicating data analysis, and desire to conduct data-driven experiments and support data-driven products
o Degree in quantitative discipline preferred (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering)
