In addition to our traditional payments portfolio, Mastercard is aggressively expanding into new payment flow and leveraging the digital and connected world of people and economies to deliver faster, reliable and more efficient propositions to make payments – send or receive money.

The Cross Border program is part of the wider Disbursement & Remittances business that we are looking to expand at a compounded rate of 50% per year for the next 5 years. We are building solutions to enable payments in an any-to-any format – anyone, anywhere can send or receive money using any channel – money exchanges, banks, digital wallets, cards or fintech apps – providing a seamless and unified experience for both individuals and business to move money.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and experienced engineers with a proven track record in leading the evolution of software products and their implementation in various markets – comfortable both working hands-on as well as guiding and mentoring a team of engineers and critically always challenging the status quo and pushing and driving the technology roadmap to ensure that the solutions leverage technology to the maximum extent.

Role:

As a Software Engineer, you will be:
- Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions
- Work with a team of talented engineers to develop high performance, high volume Java applications
- Deliver solutions by providing direct development of software functionality
- Comprehend user stories to understand task items per story in the context of development and testing (unit, functional, integration, and regression)
- Work closely with technical leads, testers, business & system analysts to define features and user stories.
- Defines requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices

Responsibilities:
- Participate in team prioritization discussions with Product/Business stakeholders
- Estimate and own delivery tasks (design, dev, test, deployment, configuration, documentation) to meet the business requirements
- Automate build, operate, and run aspects of software
- Drive code/design/process trade-off discussions within their team when required
- Drive integration of services focusing on customer journey and experience
- Perform demos/acceptance discussions in interacting with Product owners
- Understands operational and engineering experience and actively works to improve experience and metrics in the ownership area
- Identify opportunities to improve an overall process and trim waste

About You:

- Overall, 4-6 years of career experience into Java Development
- Has ability to write secure code in Java (11 or higher) and familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management
- Efficient in Java, Spring, SpringBoot, JPA, Angular, SQL
- Experience in Front End Angular will be advantageous
- Expertise with Eclipse or IntelliJ and ability to compile, deploy and execute code artefacts
- Experience with cloud software development (PCF)
- Understands the basic engineering principles used in building and running mission critical software capabilities (security, customer experience, testing, operability, simplification, service-oriented architecture)
- Able to perform debugging and troubleshooting to analyze core, heap, thread dumps and remove coding errors
- Understands and implements standard branching (e.g., Gitflow) and peer review practices
- Has skills in test driven and behavior driven development (TDD and BDD) to build just enough code and collaborate on the desired functionality
- Understands and implements Application Programming Interface (API) standards and cataloging to drive API/service adoption and commercialization
- Has skills to author test code with lots of smaller tests followed by few contract tests at service level and fewer journey tests at the integration level (Test Pyramid concept)
- Has skills to collaborate with team and business stakeholders to estimate requirements (e.g., story pointing) and prioritize based on business value
- Understands how to build robust tests to minimize defect leakage by performing regression, performance, deployment verification, and release testing
- Has skills to conduct product demos and co-ordinate with product owners to drive product acceptance signoffs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
