Overview
• The Decision Management program enables intelligent decision-based products through streaming analytics with the ability to govern these decisions and manage their outcomes with business agility.
• This program leverages business rules & AI engines, a streaming big data cluster, an in-memory data grid, APIs, & UIs to deliver real-time decisions at global scale
• This person will be responsible for mentoring the team as well as staying hands-on.
We are looking for a Software Developer to join our DMP team in the Vancouver office.

Role
• Push the project throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Communicate with stakeholders to understand the business needs.
• Design and implement adequate solutions that meet architectural requirements and programming conventions and best practices.
• Leverage necessary support from your peers or from other teams to meet project timelines.
• Develop comprehensive measures to ensure code quality, functionality consistency and production observability with tools such as testing suites, Splunk and other integrated monitoring tools.
• Document, demo and share your work progress, project knowledge, and other findings.
• Participate in all the Scrum ceremonies.
• Support release, production and other ad-hoc requests on a timely basis.
• Apply best development practices to write well designed, maintainable, testable, scalable, and secure code.
Essential Knowledge/Experience
• Strong and fluent programming and algorithmic skills in Java.
• Strong and fluent SQL skills with a deep understanding of database design and query performance.
• Deep understanding in JDK, JVM, GC and multi-threading.
• Experience with Spring or other web frameworks.
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization and common security concepts, standards and practices such as OAuth SSO, JWT, Spring Security.
• Good knowledge of unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Mockito.
• Deep understanding in build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
• Solid understanding with Git commands, branching strategies and contribution models.
• Good knowledge in Linux with a comfortable level of writing bash scripts.
• Good knowledge of Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
• Good problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and organizational skills; ability to manage expectations and relationships within and across teams.
• Good planning and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks within the constraints and timelines determined by the business needs.

• Experience working with scalable, decentralized systems.
• Experience with high availability, high performance applications.
• Experience with IBM ILOG/ODM and Pivotal Gemfire Grid.
• Experience with Dockers, Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience with Kafka, IBM MQ, etc.
• Experience with JS/TS and frontend frameworks such as Angular, Vue or React.
• Oracle or any database administration knowledge/certification is a plus.
• Cloud DevOps experience/certification such as in AWS, GCP or Azure is a plus.
• BS in computer science or a related field preferred.
