About the Job

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking an experienced EMPI Coordinator to join our Health Information Management team.  Schedule includes full time, Monday - Friday dayshift with on-call rotation required (evenings and weekends). After the successful completion of the 90-day introductory period, the selected candidate will work a hybrid schedule that includes 3-days on site and 2-days working from home.

 
In this role you will maintain and ensures data integrity of the SMS/EAD Database. Performs updates and revisions using SMS as well as related systems to ensure the patient's medical record is correct. Acts as liaison between hospital, facility, registration, coding, information services, patient care services and Health Information Management. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Interfaces with Registration staff on the accuracy of patient registration addressing questions and errors and finding solutions for the benefit of areas involved. Monitors hospital patient databases through consistent follow-up striving for accuracy in the registration process for all patients follow-up striving for accuracy in the registration process for all patients
  • Collaborates with Privacy Officer Patient Financial Services and others regarding Red Flag alerts
  • Performs duties associated with on call coverage
  • Performs merges, edits and validates revisions using the local system (PIDX) the Enterprise Access Database system (EAD) the 3M/Soft Med Cerner and McKesson systems to eliminate duplicate patient accounts and Medical Record Number Accounts. Resolves detail items not found to enable patient records to be coded. May revise newborn records to reflect proper first and last names. (if applicable)
  • Reviews and analyzes daily RTIF Error Report and makes necessary corrections. Audits and processes daily
  • Potential Duplicate Medical Record Number Report. Generates correspondence pertaining to the revision of discharge and admission changes hospital service changes and Patient Status changes.
  • Analyzes discrepancies related to patient account numbers separate patient visits and duplicate account registration
  • Tracks and analyzes discrepancies related to patient account numbers separate patient visits and duplicate account registration

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management preferred

Experience

  • 3-4 years Health information management experience with prior knowledge of SMS or hospital-based computer systems required

Licenses and Certifications

  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills;
  • Basic computer skills required; database management and applications knowledge related to registration activities preferred

This position has a hiring range of

USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
