About the Job

MedStar St. Mary's Hospital is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible General Surgeon to join our surgical team in Southern Maryland. This opportunity combines a broad elective and emergency general surgery practice with the relationships and community impact of a local hospital, supported by the resources of MedStar Health.

 

Located in the waterfront community of Leonardtown, MedStar St. Mary's Hospital has served Southern Maryland for more than 100 years. Our full-service hospital provides emergency, acute inpatient, and outpatient care, allowing surgeons to care for patients close to home while connecting them with the broader MedStar network when additional specialty care is needed.

 

Position Highlights

  • Broad clinical practice: Provide elective and emergency general surgery, including hernia repair, gallbladder disease, and other abdominal procedures.
  • Minimally invasive surgery: Practice in a surgical environment that includes laparoscopic and robotic capabilities.
  • Collaborative team: Work with surgical colleagues, referring providers, and multidisciplinary hospital teams to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Shared call: Participate in a shared general surgery call schedule.
  • Practice development: Help strengthen surgical services and access for patients throughout Southern Maryland.

 

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Maryland.
  • Strong clinical skills in elective and emergency general surgery.
  • Commitment to quality, patient experience, and collaborative care.
  • Interest or experience in minimally invasive and robotic surgery preferred.

USD $425,000.00 - USD $650,000.00 /Yr.
