About the Job

General Summary of Position
Provides care to patients and assistance to oral surgery physicians during surgical/ clinical procedures. This includes setting up the examination room and applicable trays for the procedures taking patient x-rays preparing the patient for the procedure and following up with the patient with any applicable instructions following the procedure.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Greets and escorts patients to examination room. Provides factual advice to patient(s) regarding procedure including pre-anesthesia and post operative care instructions and makes the patient comfortable. May assist in the transfer of clinic patients to other Washington Hospital Center locations.
  • Provides assistance to oral surgeons during surgical and other clinical procedures including setting up trays to be used in the procedure suctioning passing the proper instrument etc.
  • Prepares instruments used in surgery/procedures for Sterile Processing Department (SPD) processing by removing sharps washing off blood and pulling disposable equipment.
  • Takes and develops dental x-rays panorexs and/or periapicals. Ensures the images are filed in the patient's chart after the physician's review.
  • Organizes and replenishes linen supplies and instruments used in each treatment room. Cleans treatment room following each use. Changes suction canisters and tubing and cleans nasal masks. Maintains inventory of and orders medical supplies for the department.
  • Answers telephone files patient information/charts and performs other clerical functions to assist the department's administrative support.
  • Contacts appropriate organization(s) for maintenance or repair of medical equipment.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Specialized and/or advanced clerical technical or other vocational training acquired during 1 - 2 ye
    Experience
    • 1 to 3 years experience in a general dentistry or oral surgery practice required
    Licenses and Certifications
    • CDA-Certified Dental Assistant required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • May require the use of specialized medical equipment (i.e. EEG EKG blood analyzer) or data processing equipment (i.e. tape drives consoles).

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $22.48 - USD $34.49 /Hr.
