General Summary of Position


Greets assists and directs visitors physicians patients and other hospital clients. Answers telephone calls and takes messages for management and staff. Maintains entry log of visitors and handles incoming mail. Maintains a calendar and schedule of meetings reports and other time dependent activities of the Medical Chief Dept. of Pathology the Medical Director of Laboratories and the Administrative Director of Laboratories. Perform duties of Histopathology Transcriber when necessary.

 

Working hours for this role is Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4pm.  

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Provides secretarial support for the Laboratory management team including Administrative Director Medical Director LIS Manager Section Chiefs and /or Supervisors.
  • Transcribes copies distributes and maintains new and/ or revised laboratory and pathology procedures for all laboratory departments and locations including Pulmonary Medicine.
  • Maintains document control within the computer.  Also maintains copies of department minutes and Quality Improvement data and reports for all related committees and laboratory departments.
  • Maintains and organizes employee records and files for content to include education certification etc.
  • Maintains and organizes CAP proficiency testing surveys for each laboratory department; assuring timelines are met and all documentation is maintained and filed.
  • Assists Pathologist Transcription in obtaining Cerner reports and faxing reports.
  • Obtains prioritizes and distributes mail correspondence daily.
  • Maintains correspondence file for incoming and outgoing departmental correspondence including licensure permits certifications and budget contract information.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.

Experience

  • 1-2 years Stenographic or secretarial experience in the medical field required.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.70 - USD $32.72 /Hr.
