General Summary of Position
The Director of Healthcare Risk Management is responsible for initiating, directing, and supervising risk management services at the assigned hospital(s). Oversees the strategic direction, development, optimization, implementation, and maintenance of the Risk Management program. The Director of Healthcare Risk Management will plan, coordinate, and direct the implementation of the Risk Management program in accordance with established plans, state and federal regulations, and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree Nursing, law, or related field. required
Experience
- 5-7 years experience in healthcare risk management, nursing, legal or a related field required
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPHRM - Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within 1 year of hire date. within 1 Year required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of risks and insurance functions in a large, complex hospital setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical-thinking, oral, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and their usual risks and outcomes.
- Ability to prioritize a diverse workload and work under pressure and deadlines.
- Experience with process improvement projects and risk assessments.
- Ability to interpret the risk climate, both internal and external to the organization.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build consensus and communicate effectively.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple projects and demands.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others.
