Find your calling at Mercy! Position Details: Cook - Mercy Hospital Logan County Full-time, 40 hours per week

Under the direct supervision of the Nutritional Services Coordinator/Supervisor, the cook will prepare, season and cook food for hospital patients, staff and visitors. Follows correct food preparation and handling procedures. Performs a variety of cleaning duties.

1. Within 30 days of hire, must demonstrate comprehension of minimum correct raw food storage hierarchy and record keeping methods. internal cooking temperatures, refrigeration/freezer storage temperatures, correct raw food storage hierarchy and record keeping methods.
2. Within 30 days of hire, must demonstrate knowledge of all food preparation containers, pans and applicable equipment related to their primary area.
3. Within 30 days of hire, must demonstrate proper measuring and weighing techniques during food preparation in reference to provided recipes.
4. Demonstrate the proper use and cleaning of knives, slicer, char broiler, griddle, steamer, TurboChef, range, convection/combi ovens and fryer.
5. Must be ServSafe Certified within 6 months of employment.
6.Demonstrates application of exceptional stewardship practices in utilization of leftover and overrun product.
7. Demonstrates pride in product through presentation and plating skills
8.Must be ServSafe Certified
9. Demonstrates competencies (as determined) in TWO of the following areas:
AM Patient Line Cook
Grill Cook
PM Patient Line Cook
Cafe Cook
Prep/Relief Cook

Qualifications:
Education: None required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Licensure: None required.
Experience: None required. 90 days of experience in hospital food service preferred.
