Overview:

 

The purpose of this position is to ensure effective management of the planning, design and construction department and capital construction projects as well as supporting an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy Health. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive relationship with all assigned communities and executive leadership, both operational and financial. Additionally, the position will represent Mercy in public AHJ (authorities having jurisdiction) matters, managing a collaborative and productive relationship with public officials. The planning, design and construction department co-workers within the assigned geography will report directly to this position.

Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 15 years project management experience in the healthcare construction industry as an Owners Representative or General Contractor. Proven experience managing ground-up, existing building renovation, or other routine and capital construction projects.  5+ years supervisory experience managing coworkers.
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Preferred Education: Advanced degree in, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Preferred Certifications/Experience: 8+ years project management experience in the healthcare construction industry, delivering successful projects with effective hospital administration collaboration. Prefer one of the following Certified Healthcare Facility Management CHFM, Certified Healthcare Constructor CHC, American Society of Healthcare Engineers AHSE, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional LEED AP, American Institute of Architects AIA, Professional Project Manager PMP or ability to obtain as appropriate.
  • Other:  Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively build relationships at all levels of the organization.   Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to be flexible and creative in developing solutions that deliver results. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously and to adapt to rapidly changing schedules, priorities, and workflow.  Must have sound judgment and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills that deliver practical solutions.  Ability to make sound decisions that support the successful completion of projects. Strong organizational skills. Must be able to type and proficient with use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Ability to travel up to 50%. Must maintain a valid driver's license.
