Overview:

Provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychological, physical and general aspect of care; utilizes the nursing process in planning care; meets the communication and education needs of patient and family; provides care that reflect initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. Communicates in a professional, positive, and assertive manner congruent with Mercy Service Standards. Communicates with physicians and other team members about changes in patient's condition and is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med-Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48 bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least one year previous clinical nursing experience preferred
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program required
  • Licensure: Current Arkansas LPN license
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support Certification through an American Heart Association approved program
