Description
Find your calling at Mercy! The Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. This role is responsible for the safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chamber(s), related support systems, and the proper delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The Hyperbaric Tech ensures patient safety, maintains equipment standards, and supports clinical operations within the Wound Care Center. Position Details:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
One (1) year of experience in one of the following fields:
Respiratory Therapist
Military Corpsman / Medical Services Specialist
Nurse Practitioner
EMT‑Basic
Paramedic
Registered Nurse (RN)
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
Physical Therapist
Physical Therapy Assistant
Licensure/Certification
Wound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following:
Respiratory Therapist
Military Corpsman Medical Services Specialist
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
EMT‑Basic
Paramedic
Registered Nurse (RN)
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
Physical Therapist
Physical Therapy Assistant
Additionally:
Chamber operators must complete, or provide proof of completion of, an Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT).
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software quickly.
Working knowledge of insurance processes, including obtaining referrals, authorizations, eligibility verification, and benefits.
Physical Requirements
Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Prolonged standing and walking throughout each shift.
Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform assigned duties.
