The Specialty Account Coordinator – Radiation Oncology is responsible for ensuring radiation therapy services are financially cleared and authorized prior to treatment initiation. This role manages insurance verification, benefits review, preauthorization, and denials management while maintaining compliance with payer regulations and Epic workflows. The position requires close coordination with clinical teams, scheduling, and payers to prevent delays in patient care and serves as a subject-matter resource for radiation oncology billing and authorization processes. Position Details: Qualifications

  • Education: Some college coursework in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of related healthcare revenue cycle, authorization, or billing experience required; radiation oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of payer requirements, preauthorization processes, HIPAA regulations, and denial prevention strategies.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work accurately under deadlines and in high-volume or stressful environments.

keyword(s): Process patient accounts in assigned Epic work queues with a high level of accuracy, productivity, and timeliness.•    Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, financial assistance status, and pre-certification requirements, including radiopharmaceutical authorizations. •    Maintain open communication among Radiation Oncology caregivers to ensure correctness of preauthorization throughout the process.•    Manage and resolve authorization and claims denials by identifying root causes and collaborating with leadership on process improvements.•    Coordinate complex or escalated patient accounts and complaints, ensuring clear communication with patients, providers, and payers.•    Maintain and update patient assistance program guidelines and authorization requirements.•    Audit account documentation and workflows to ensure compliance with payer, regulatory, and organizational standards.•    Serve as an expert resource for Epic functionality, radiation oncology billing, and authorization workflows; support training of new and existing staff.•    Monitor payer policies and regulatory changes that impact preauthorization, documentation, and claims submission.Quality and Performance ExpectationsMaintain superior quality standards through accurate account processing, effective auditing, and proactive identification of improvement opportunities. Communicate issues that may impact account resolution and recommend solutions to leadership.System ProficiencyDemonstrate expert proficiency in Epic and patient accounting systems, including account research, denial analysis, reporting, and security procedures. Maintain required End User Proficiency Assessments (EUPA).Communication and CollaborationExhibit professional, effective verbal and written communication. Collaborate with clinical and revenue cycle teams to resolve issues, support departmental initiatives, and ensure timely access to care.
