The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a dedicated and student-focused School Counselor to join our full-time school-based team in Santa Fe, NM. As a School Counselor, you will partner with students, families, teachers, administrators, and support staff to help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Qualifications- Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Education, or a related field
- Current School Counselor License from the New Mexico Public Education Department
- Previous experience as a school counselor
- If wanting Elementary school placement, experience with elementary school children is preferred
- Previous experience working with the ASCA National Model
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff
- Provide individual and group counseling services to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Assist students with goal setting, academic planning, and college and career readiness activities
- Support students experiencing personal, social, behavioral, or academic challenges
- Conduct student needs assessments and develop intervention strategies to promote success
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student achievement
- Participate in Student Success Team (SST), MTSS, Section 504, and other student support meetings as needed
- Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling support when appropriate
- Connect students and families with school and community resources
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and student service logs
