Description

The SIU is seeking a Data Analyst (has the ability to be filled at the Associate level)  to join its Analytics Team in their efforts to combat insurance fraud through technology and data analytics. This highly motivated and driven individual will conduct data mining and analysis to identify fraudulent activities and areas requiring investigation. The analyst will be able to exercise their decision-making skills and creativity in the development of data projects, analytical dashboards, and predictive fraud models. This individual will also assist in technological initiatives that support department goals and NJM's strategic initiatives.

This position can be based in West Trenton, Hammonton or Parisppany and requires 3 days in the office with the opportunity to work 2 days at home.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to create and run queries selecting data elements, and filtering and sorting the data.
  • Understanding of relational databases and data modeling concepts and has ability to perform basic SQL concepts and ad-hoc queries.
  • Works collaboratively within cross-functional teams to address and prioritize department and company data reporting and business needs.
  • Participates in data requirement elicitation, analysis, mapping, and testing activities for department's business technology solutions.
  • Evaluates and monitors the department's metrics and proactively documents trends with detailed descriptions of possible business impacts.
  • Develops, generates, and revises routine and ad-hoc detail and summary level reports, including written interpretation of analytic results and report automation.
  • Leverages internal and external data sources in analytical efforts to identify new avenues for data mining and exploration of issues related to fraud and to support SIU business needs.
  • Ensures that predictive models continue to perform optimally through ongoing data validation and communication with the SIU Analytics Team, vendor and NJM IT resources. Identifies technical and business process issues and explores solutions with Senior Analysts and Team leadership to address and resolve them.
  • As needed, supports, and performs fair, thorough, and efficient investigations in keeping with departmental standards, including use of investigative plans, case reviews and NJM data governance protocols. Communicates investigative results as required by departmental standards, with supervisory personnel, and internal and external customers.
  • Develops and provides technical training, technical assistance, and technical support to the SIU staff as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must have experience conducting data analysis or have equivalent educational background
  • Prior SIU experience is a plus
  • Experience using SAS, Power BI and Python is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Pro-active and self-motivated with an ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Detail-oriented with a strong aptitude for analysis
  • Strong social media and internet research skills
  • Knowledge of the internal and external databases including Guidewire solutions and data
  • Must have experience with Microsoft applications including Access, PowerPoint, and Excel (pivot tables, functions, and data visuals)
  • Exposure to database technologies; experience with SQL preferred
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Occasional travel to other NJM facilities and other general travel as needed

The Salary range for this role is $69,880 - $83,700. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials.
