Job Description
The Advanced Technology and Innovation team is seeking a highly skilled and forward‑thinking Manager, Advanced Technology to lead the transition of innovative R&D concepts into scalable, production ready solutions. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, IT, and emerging technologies, ensuring that prototypes developed within R&D mature into robust, maintainable, and operational systems.
The ideal candidate brings a strong multidisciplinary engineering background spanning software, mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics combined with hands‑on experience in areas such as IoT, computer vision, automation, and intelligent systems. This leader will guide cross‑functional teams, collaborate with internal and external partners, and establish the processes and standards required to operationalize advanced technology solutions across the organization.
Principal Duties• Lead production deployment of advanced technology solutions (IoT, automation, computer vision, intelligent systems, etc.)
• Direct system architecture, integration planning, testing, and validation across software, mechanical, electrical, and embedded domains.
• Manage procurement, vendor selection, contracting, and on‑site installation or construction activities.
• Apply ITIL and project management best practices to ensure reliable, scalable system rollout.
• Conduct feasibility studies, proof‑of‑concept evaluations, and technology/vendor assessments.
• Collaborate with engineering, IT, operations, and external partners to ensure successful implementation.
• Demonstrate excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Job Related Experience
Minimum Level: 3-5 years
Preferred Level: 6-10 years
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).
Skills Required
• 5+ years of experience in deploying advanced technology systems (IoT, automation, computer vision, robotics, edge computing, etc.).
• Experience with C++, Python, embedded development, and system integration.
Skills Desired
• Advanced degree, e.g., Ph.D or M.S. Computer Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).
• Experience managing budgets, P&L, resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, in scope, and within budget.
• Strong understanding of IoT architectures, automation platforms, computer vision, and industrial networking.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic system design.
• Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design, embedded hardware, and electronics integration.
• Knowledge of sensors, cameras, and related signal‑processing or data‑acquisition technologies.
• Experience with ITIL, project management, procurement, and vendor/contractor oversight.
• Experience in IT, industrial operations, logistics, or transportation environments.
• Experience managing construction-related technology installations and industrial integration projects.
• Railroad system application experience with use in advanced machine vision, high-resolution megapixel trackside cameras.
