At NorthBay Health, the Director, Outpatient Imaging is responsible for management (e.g., administrative, operational, financial) of Solano Diagnostic Imaging (SDI), which encompasses all outpatient imaging services for NorthBay Healthcare (NorthBay), at multiple sites. Imaging modalities include CT, X-ray, mammography, bone density (Dexa), ultrasound, stereotactic and MRI guided breast biopsies, PET and all diagnostic and treatment modalities. In addition, the Director is responsible for inpatient and outpatient MRI services, as SDI provides MRI services for hospital operations. SDI is a busy outpatient imaging business (performing ~ 70,000 exams each year), and it is important that the business reflect efficient, standardized operations and throughput, timely responsiveness to referring physicians, and exemplary levels of quality and patient satisfaction. The Director is therefore responsible for ensuring optimal operational and clinical performance levels, as well as meeting annual budget (e.g., revenue and expense) goals. In addition, the Director is responsible for supervision of SDI's manager(s) and staff, including recruitment, training and day-day management, as well as ensuring proactive, consistent coordination with hospital and ambulatory (e.g., NorthBay Medical Group) operations, and Information Technology. The Director is also responsible for financial management, including alignment with SDI's outsourced revenue cycle management firm (e.g., to effectively and efficiently transmit all patient demographic and insurance information for optimal charge entry, billing and collections), as well as Third Party Contracting (to ensure optimal negotiation of insurance contracts and corresponding payer mix management). Finally, working with the Outpatient Imaging Medical Director and other internal NorthBay resources, the Director is responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations of federal and state statutes, Medicare Rules of participation, and the accreditation standards governing the provision of Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Primary Job Duties
Provides across-the-board leadership for SDI, including strategy co-development (with Strategy Team), budget development, growth, business management, and team supervision.
Ensures patient safety, clinical practice excellence (with Medical Director) and service excellence in all aspects of imaging services delivery.
Manages the business to specific annual budget targets and collaborates with outsourced revenue cycle management firm to ensure accurate charge entry and maximum collections.
Collaborates with Third Party Contracting, Marketing and Business Development Teams to ensure optimal commercial growth and external referral management.
Collaborates with Finance and others to facilitate a Monthly Operations Review (MOR) with manager (President, NorthBay Health Advantage/Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, NorthBay).
Closely coordinates with hospital and ambulatory operations to ensure seamless integration of outpatient imaging and inpatient MRI services with patient care delivery across NorthBay.
Provides outpatient imaging domain expertise to IT leadership, ensuring integration of information technology (e.g., Cerner electronic health record) resources with imaging operations, in order to drive optimal workflow efficiency.
Applies Lean tools and thinking (e.g., standard work) to create an environment of continuous improvement and service excellence across SDI.
Manages the SDI team to ensure optimal alignment to budget, quality and service goals, and mentors manager, supervisor and others to create an environment of exemplary servant leadership.
Coordinating with Human Resources and manager, provides all aspects of team management, including staffing levels, recruitment, and performance management.
Manages a bi-annual medical staff survey to gauge physician satisfaction and provides regular updates on service levels and imaging operations to medical staff leadership.
Partners with Strategy Team on identifying growth opportunities and collaborates with them and Finance Team for business planning and capital planning.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, healthcare/business administration, public health or a related field is required. Master's degree is highly preferred.
Experience/Skills: The following qualifications are required. Possession of current license, certificate or registration in one of the disciplines of Diagnostic Imaging (CRT, CRTNM or ARDMS) preferred. Five to six (5-6) or more years of progressive management experience, at least 2 in the discipline. Demonstrated track record building and managing imaging services teams. Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, networking skills and the ability to apply a consistently high level of emotional intelligence. Demonstrated experience interacting with physicians and hospital and ambulatory operations leadership. Demonstrated experience developing and managing imaging workflows and supporting them with information technology. Demonstrated analytical and financial management skills, including developing/managing operating and capital budgets. Demonstrated experience managing and monitoring revenue cycle management metrics to ensure accurate charge entry and support collections (payer and patient). Demonstrated effective project and change management skills.

Hours: Management exempt. M-F 8-5, some weekend hours may be required as services are provided on weekends.
Compensation: $197 to $210 based on years of experience doing the specific duties of this role. This role is bonus eligible.
