Description
At NorthBay Health, the EMG Technician/MAII is responsible for providing direct patient care and perform EMG's in support of a provider in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of the Practice Manager and direction of a licensed physician. The EMG Tech/MAII may administer medications and specific authorization and supervision of a physician. Conducts EMG triage, scheduling and statistics for function within the clinic. Manages EMG study files, supply ordering and stocking and cleans and maintains EMG room and equipment for EMGs in the clinic. Distribution of staff and patients may require reassignment to other nursing areas.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Provides direct patient care and EMG's according to area assigned, per organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Prepares patient for provider, including vital signs and collection of clinical data.
Perform injections under the supervision of a physician.
Assists provider and/or performs procedures in assigned area within scope of practice.
Documents patient encounters according to clinical policies.
Reviews preventative guidelines, patient status regarding these guidelines and arranges for appropriate follow-up.
Anticipates need for appropriate Health Education material.
Assists provider to ensure follow-up on abnormal results or ongoing problems.
Schedules patients for procedures and provides educational materials as necessary.
Presents a professional demeanor in appearance and attitude.
Floats to other areas as needed.
Collects non-invasive lab specimens.
Maintains equipment properly.
Supports the organizational mission, values and goals when performing procedures.
Instructs and assists patients with procedures in a manner specific to the developmental age and special needs/behaviors of the patient population served.
Organizational standards for Patient Safety and the Department of Heath will be met.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Successful completion of an EMG course. Certificate of Completion and/or documentation of attending EMG course or official training at NorthBay with Matus certified trainer with competency check by physician
Licensure/Credentials: Current State or National Medical Assistant Certification from certifying agency required. Current AHA certification or equivalent in basic CPR. Internal Medical Administration competency complete.
Experience: One year's experience as an EMG technician. One year's experience in ambulatory care setting preferred. Previous experience with medication administration required.
Skills: Demonstrated effective time management skills. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing ambulatory nursing care as appropriate for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal. Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent organizational skills. EMGs of superior quality. Perform basic clerical procedures including filing, phone answering and some computer knowledge. Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. Bilingual preferred.

Hours of Work: Based on business need.
Compensation: $31 to $38.57 based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
