Salary is Negotiable

After successful completion of the probationary period, employee will receive off probation wage increase.


Summary:

Responsible for the maintenance of all tribal vehicles. Assess tribal vehicles for problems, repairs the problem or make arrangements for service. Maintain the preventive maintenance schedule on all tribal vehicles.

Detailed responsibilities:
* Perform mechanical maintenance on Tribal owned vehicles and associated motorized equipment.
* Perform normal/schedule preventive maintenance.
* Use various types of diagnostic testing equipment related to vehicles operation.
* Perform oil changes, tune-ups, belt/hose removal/replacement and other performance as needed/required.
* Maintain written records/logs.
* Complete “on road” emergency repairs.
* Deliver and picks-up vehicles for scheduled maintenance appointments at the maintenance garage and at local vehicle dealers.
* Assist customers to include scheduling appointments and filling out repair orders.
* Complete inventory and maintain supplies in stock and order parts from vendors as needed/required.
* Work beyond scheduled times as needed/required.
* Provide excellent customer service at all times to include but not limited to, addressing customer and employee needs courteously and promptly.
* Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.

* Maintain a clean and safe work area. Comply with all applicable rules and regulations pertaining to safety.

Skills:
Essential:
* Ability to deal with the general public and Tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity and maturity
* Ability to use tools and equipment pertinent to the automotive trade is required
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups in a complex, multi cultural environment is required.
* Knowledge and expertise in fuel systems, heating and cooling systems, ignition, wiring, brake, power trains and related accessories is required.
* Knowledge and experience in the use of various types of diagnostic testing equipment related to vehicles operation is required.
* Ability to work flexible hours as needed/required.
* Ability to safely use arc welder, torch, and be able to braze metal-to-metal is required.
* Skill in customer/client relationships.
Nonessential:
* Knowledge and experience in automotive air conditioning.
* Knowledge of automotive transmissions.

Education Requirement - Or A Closely Related Field:

Essential:
* High School Diploma, HSED Diploma or GED Certification 
* Applicants age 50 and older are exempt from this requirement
* A Combination of Experience and Education May Be Considered
Nonessential:
* Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics

Credentials:
Essential:
* Driver's License Personal & Tribal Vehicle
* Insurance Required
Nonessential:
* CDL Class B
* Auto Serv Excel (ASE) cert. within one (1) yr of employment
* Commercial Drivers License

Nonessential:
* CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with a class B endorsement.
* Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is required within one (1) year of employment

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
