Salary is Negotiable

After successful completion of the probationary period, employee will receive off probation wage increase.


Summary:

This position will assist the department with a variety of tourism related events and public functions for the Oneida Nation. Incumbent will have a high level of experience in conference planning, sponsorship marketing and fund-raising, entertainment/event production and contract negotiating. Position shall create and maintain joint marketing efforts with local and regional government, civic and professional agencies that promote and benefit tourism in our region. Incumbent will coordinate cultural presentations and other events as assigned by the director.


Responsibilities:

* Create and produce events, assist coordinating last-minute/unscheduled events efficiently and effectively within budgetary constraints.
* Assist in development of tourism plans, goals and objectives and ensure compliance to contractual obligations and requirements
* Assist in the development, coordination, promotion and ROI of all trade shows
* Develop tour operator database with follow up plan, return on investment report
* Assist in maintaining Tourism Facebook and explore Oneida website
* Develop and market tourism packages for local, state, national and international markets
* Develop excel spreadsheets with to reconcile events, programs and bus tours
* Track and reconcile all volunteer and donations for the department
* Assist in coordination, planning for conferences and special events, including consulting with conference or event directors to establish goals, services required, and fee schedules
* Act as liaison to event participants; prepare promotional materials and correspondence for participants
* Assist in developing, promoting, conducting and tracking bus tours.
* Setup itineraries, organize and conduct cultural tours for Familiarization (FAM) tours, travel agents, tour planners, bureaus, conferences and individuals by car, van, bus and motor coaches.
* Update events calendar, projecting for future events and department needs
* Participate and/or attend tourism, event planning, board and various committees, and Tourism staff meetings.
* Work closely with all other internal department managers to create joint marketing initiatives that benefit the Oneida Tribe.
* Exhibit at local, regional and national conventions with cultural and tourism related information.
* Assist in producing traditional dance and cultural presentations for professional, civic and educational organizations .
* Consult and work cooperatively with all tribal departments to ensure successful events and conferences.

Skills:

Essential:
* Knowledge of audio/visual technology and operations
* Must present a professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of the Oneida Nation in dealing with the general public
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines
* Working knowledge of computerized Travel systems, virtual credit card and on-line financial institution systems
* Customer/client relations. This requires the incumbent to be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and Tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, and maturity
* Knowledge of the Oneida Tribal History, Culture and the Tribal Organization
* Appreciation for cultural diversity
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize and schedule priorities effectively
* Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
