Overview Job Skills / Requirements

As our Security Programs Manager, you will be overseeing a portfolio of provincial and critical infrastructure contracts and managing all aspects of Paladin business within it. This includes not only being a tiered point of client contact, but also managing the security team that works within the portfolio. You will be working regularly with other managers and the Director of the portfolio, security staff, and our clients to ensure that everyone's needs are met.

Please note that this is a temporary full-time contract for one (1) year, with the potential to become permanent.

Term: May 2026 - March 31, 2027

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 per year, with a potential for pay increase in six months based on personal and client contract performance.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0700 - 1530 hours, with after-hours involvement as required

Work Location: Burnaby office, with travel throughout the province required to support project needs

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with account managers and the clients in the portfolio
  • Perform interviews and meeting all new staff being considered for sites within the portfolio
  • Ensure all staff within the portfolio have adequate training based on industry, corporate and client standards
  • Provide motivational and disciplinary discussions with staff 
  • Respond to communications from clients or staff in a timely manner
  • Conduct performance evaluations of staff on an as-needed basis, and in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure that there are thorough Site Training and Employee Orientation programs in place at all sites within the portfolio and that all newly-assigned staff demonstrates competence on site
  • Ensure that there are adequate numbers of trained security staff to meet all of Paladin's contractual obligations within the portfolio of business
  • Develop and maintain frequent security evaluations of client facilities, and ensure appropriate recommendations are made to the CSM so that clients security needs are met
  • Communicate appropriate information to our Operations Centre and/or Field Managers to ensure that any outstanding issues are dealt with in a timely fashion
  • Monitor Incident Reports and taking appropriate action 
  • Remain on-call as an after-hours resource for emergencies
  • Ensure all sites have up to date and complete Site Orders both in hard copy on site and in digital copy on the network server
  • Perform other duties as needed to assist with corporate and/or branch needs

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of work experience in the security industry, including security systems and guard management
  • 3+ years of front-line supervisory experience in physical security and/or security technology
  • Valid Class BC 5 Driver's License and a vehicle that will be used for work purposes
  • Effective communication, both in writing and verbally, including delivering presentations to groups
  • Working knowledge of appropriate legislation and provincial/national standards on building codes, security, and protection of privacy
  • Willingness to join and participate in industry professional associations and have a desire to learn through professional certification processes
  • Post-secondary education in security management, criminology or related discipline would be an asset
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Professionalism and effective people management skills
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, which may include walking and/or standing for long periods
