Summary Statement:
You will be leading several IT operations teams throughout Penske's diverse technical department to implement crucial support services and introduce brand new technologies and solutions based on current market trends to enable us to continue to lead the transportation services industry by offering reliable innovative solutions and services using cutting edge technologies.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a Penske Director of IT Engineering - MS, Storage & Azure Cloud, you will be responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability and security of corporate IT hardware, Cloud environments, and related software. You will lead teams that play a key role in the support, troubleshooting, implementation, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the use of On-premises and Cloud environments. You will also be researching and implementing the latest trends in related technology fields while making sure to strictly adhere to Penske's standards and policies. You will be leading and mentoring several teams to complete a variety of projects and to act efficiently in the case of a company technical outage.
Penske Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of corporate IT hardware, Cloud environments and related software.
• Support, troubleshooting, implementation, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the use of the MS, Storage and Cloud computing environment.
• Leads the MS, Storage and Cloud Engineering staff.
• Mentor and direct their staff in design and deployment of complex tools/technology and will work closely with technical staff on best practice development and implementation.
• Ensure that ITDS engineering projects and priorities are in alignment with the overall IT and business objectives.
• Lead the technical team during system outage or disaster recovery events.
• Responsible for the strict adherence to company policy and will ensure that all implementations meet department compliance policies, internal control procedures and industry best practices (ie: SoX/PCI/CCPA/GDPR/SSAE16).
• Responsible for researching and evaluating newer/emerging technologies and advises IT management on their usefulness at Penske.
• Provide alignment of department resources to business initiatives and priorities.
• Manage key vendor relationships and vendor performance.
• Responsible for a portion of the IT capital and expense budget and input into the IT Delivery Services business planning process.
• Manage, monitor and drive improvement in platform, processes and technology to run 7x24x365 mission critical systems.
• Responsible for technical disaster recovery capability for On-premises and Cloud environments
• Lead the technical team during major system failure events and triage calls.
• Work with management to define standards, policies and procedures to facilitate the management, accountability, functionality and security of networked based systems.
• Ensure SOX and PCI compliance for IT computing processes and systems
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Penske Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of technology related experience
• 10+ years Leadership experience with responsibility of managing a team of highly skilled technical experts from diverse technical backgrounds.
• 10+ years' Experience in managing highly complex, large-scale, multi-project delivery teams.
• 10+ years' Experience in Architecting and implementing highly scalable IT solutions.
• 10+ years' Experience in working with various business and IT teams to deliver technology solutions that add significant value to business processes/functions.
• Must have a deep level of understanding of hardware, cloud and software solutions used on projects.
• Understand contractual opportunities and pitfalls including reviewing and providing inputs to technical SOW's.
• Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in designing and implementing.
• Knowledge - Full fluency in the following areas:
o Windows servers – Advanced Proficiency
o Cloud computing technologies such as SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, Regions, Availability Zones, VNet, Compute, Storage, Load Balancers, IAM, Security Groups, etc. – Advanced Proficiency
o M365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Email Filtering, DLP – Advanced Proficiency
o Active Directory, Entra and Federated Identity – Advanced Proficiency
o Open source and purchased middleware products such as webservers, application servers, database servers, API management gateways, single-sign-on software, identity management software, ETL software, collaboration software, etc. – Advanced Proficiency
o Demonstrated understanding of Company's web infrastructure and how it supports our web-based applications – Advanced Proficiency
o Monitoring and Observability tools – Advanced Proficiency
o Scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, etc. – Advanced Proficiency
o Security structures and configuration – Intermediate Proficiency
o Kubernetes, Containers, Virtualization, HCI and storage area networks and arrays – Intermediate Proficiency
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
