We currently have an opportunity for a Food Safety & Quality Management Specialist to join our team at our newly constructed, state of the art, Richardson Innovation Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg, MB. This position is responsible for establishing and administering quality assurance and food safety systems and programs to support Richardson's Food & Ingredients businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders to provide quality assurance and food safety documentation to satisfy customer needs and regulatory requirements

  • Lead internal food safety audits conducted at food processing plants and submit findings to operations leadership; schedule and oversee third party audits

  • Undertake supplier risk assessments consistent with the established Corporate Supplier Risk Management Program

  • Perform food product label regulatory reviews, file regulatory registrations, and maintain the Corporate Quality Assurance and Food Safety Document Control  system

  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of applicable industry and food safety regulatory requirements ensuring corporate systems and programs are maintained in compliance with any modernization or changes to applicable regulations  

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science or a related discipline coupled with three years' experience in quality assurance and food safety

  • Working knowledge of quality assurance, food safety and food defense systems and practices

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication (spoken, read and written) and investigative skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and food safety management systems  

  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills

  • Knowledge of Food Manufacturing (and specifically Oat Flaking, Wheat Flour, Edible Oils) an asset

  • Food Safety Auditing Experience
