The Figure Finisher will refurbish to the original aesthetics and function of thematic character heads and associated props. The responsibilities will include cleaning, repairing, installing, and finishing/painting skins, shells, costumes, props. Knowledge of all techniques, materials, and tools involved in silicone skin repair, fiberglass repair and finishing, scenic painting, faux finishing, fur application, airbrushing, automotive painting, carpentry, sculpting, mold making, casting, fabrication, sewing, costuming, patterning, wig care, and problem solving will be utilized.

As a Figure Finisher, you will be responsible for:

  • Repairing character heads and associated props, according to the provided documentation to include the following: Flexible and non-flexible skins, coverings (including costumes, wigs, fur, and feathers), and support structures
  • Cleaning, repairing, painting silicone and fiberglass skins and shells
  • Mending or replacing costumes and fur or other figure coverings which may also include fabrication/replacement of fasteners & attachments, including buckles, straps, zippers, snaps, stand-offs, tabs, and various inserts
  • Painting processes to include properly assessing, mixing, and applying airbrush and/or faux paint techniques, automotive paint applications, as well as wet/dry brush and sponge painting
  • Carefully and specifically following directions on client “Rehab tips and techniques” directions for completion of repair work
  • Assessing new client projects, confirming work to be completed, and communicating professionally with the clients 
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
  • Following quality standards, instructions, and standards of conduct for all employees

To be considered as a Figure Finisher, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years set/prop fabrication, costuming, painting and maintenance with the finishing aspect of animated figures 
  • A valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to estimate, plan and prepare for work and follow production schedules
  • Ability to document work completed in a clean and professional manner
  • Ability to travel 10% may be required for this position

A successful candidate may also have:

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and ability to effectively coordinate with mechanical technicians regarding needed mechanical repairs on character heads

  • Ability to ascertain (& possibly source) all materials, tools, equipment and processes to complete each new project and communicate effectively to resolution
