Job Summary:
The Security Technician will be responsible for the physical support of the corporate security systems as well as the integration of security technology across the business. The Security Technician will primarily work at the various local sites and will respond to the ongoing maintenance and new installation of our security systems. The Security Technician will also assist in situations, supporting other departments at various sites as needed, supporting security-related investigations, responding to emergencies, coordinating project installations, conducting audits (systems, buildings, access, etc.), and troubleshooting physical and technological issues.
As a Security Technician, you will:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot CCTV systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and electronic security barriers, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with safety and security standards
- Perform hands-on low voltage electrical and structured cabling work, including pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing cables for electronic security systems
- Capable of running and diagnosing issues with structured and low voltage cabling
- Ability to read and understand schematic plans. Interpret and work from schematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings to execute installation and repair work effectively
- Conduct site-specific risk assessments and physical security audits; identify and report vulnerabilities and deficiencies to the Security Coordinator
- Participate in investigations involving security incidents, losses, or violations; prepare accurate and timely incident and investigation reports
- Support Operations and Human Resources by coordinating with security vendors or contract personnel, as needed, for events or increased security presence
- Track and report metrics related to system performance, incident response, audit findings, and maintenance activities; escalate issues proactively
- Provide regular updates and status reports to the Security Coordinator, ensuring clear communication on all active tasks and projects
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of security-related work experience (corporate security, military, law enforcement)
- Valid driver's license with safe driving record and able to pass pre-employment background check
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to communicate on a highly professional level, in both written and verbal forms.
- Comfortable with public speaking to various audiences including presenting metrics, proposing plans, and providing training and instruction
- Strong computer skills with MS Office suite, including ability to learn new software (surveillance, card access, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines with attention to detail
- Ability to understand and follow design plans and building blueprints
- Minimum 2 years of corporate security experience with hardware maintenance and installation
- Training/experience relating to enterprise security risk management, workplace violence emergency procedures, ICS, cyber security awareness, asset protection, social engineering, conflict resolution, de-escalation, defensive tactics, etc
- Familiarity with governmental and professional organizations (DHS, CISA, FEMA, ASIS, etc.)
- Experience in installation and configuration of CCTV systems, intrusion detection, physical access control and electronic barrier security systems
- Experience with basic networking principles, VPN's and firewalls
- Experience with low voltage electrical wiring
- Experience/Knowledge of Avigilon, Symmetry, AMAG a plus.
- Familiarity with Avigilon surveillance camera systems, AMAG card access, and PeopleSoft (Financial and HR applications preferred)
- Ability to read site plans, blueprints/as-builts, etc
- Basic project management skills
