Job Summary

Jump start your IT career with Ryder Systems, Inc.! Ryder's Information Technology organization is strategically focused on growing the supply chain and transportation businesses through new technology-driven solutions that focus on optimizing transportation and supply chain networks.

We are seeking a motivated and organized near college graduate to join our team as a Junior IT Project Manager Intern. This role is designed for individuals looking to start their career in IT project management and gain hands-on experience supporting technology projects from planning through execution and delivery.

In this role, the intern will work closely with and shadow multiple IT Project Managers across a variety of initiatives, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS), and IT Infrastructure projects. The intern will gain end-to-end project exposure, supporting projects from award and initial planning through execution, deployment, and transition to steady-state operations.

This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship, helping the intern build a strong foundation in IT project management within a complex, operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, tracking, and coordinating IT projects
  • Support project managers with schedules, documentation, status, and financial reports
  • Communicate with team members, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Help identify project risks and track action items
  • Participate in project meetings, take meeting notes, and follow up on action items
  • Ensure projects follow company processes and timelines
  • Observing and assisting with project kickoff meetings, planning sessions, and stakeholder reviews
  • Supporting project activities such as scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination
  • Tracking milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects
  • Learning how IT solutions are implemented to support transportation, distribution, and infrastructure operations
  • Participating in system implementation, testing coordination, go-live activities, and post-implementation support
  • Gaining exposure to operational handoff processes and transition to steady-state support teams

Qualifications

  • Near completion of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (near graduate)
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Scrum)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical skills with a desire to learn.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to clearly communicate
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Professionalism and reliability in meetings

Skills:

  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of IT concepts, software development, and network infrastructure.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop solutions.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working in a team environment and contributing to group projects.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Internship or academic project experience related to IT, Supply Chain, or project management
  • Familiarity with tools like Service Now or Microsoft Project
  • Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies
  • CAPM or PMP certification, or interest in pursuing it
  • Local candidate to the Miami, FL area

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required Currently enrolled toward a degree
  • Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel) intermediate required

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
