SAIC is looking for a Cloud & Server Systems Infrastructure Manager who will be responsible for leading the enterprise server, storage, networking, and cloud engineering functions during a major modernization effort, including the full shutdown of legacy data centers and transition to a 100% Azure Government cloud environment. This role oversees a team of multi‑disciplinary engineers supporting mission‑critical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with federal security standards, continuity of operations, and high availability across hybrid platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operational Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a technical team of server, cloud, storage, and networking engineers.

  • Oversee daily operations ensuring 24/7/365 system availability, SLA adherence, and infrastructure stability.

  • Manage engineering workload and resource allocation for migration, modernization, and operational priorities.

  • Drive root‑cause analysis (RCA), incident response, and major incident management and on-call rotations.

Data Center Closure & Azure Government Migration

  • Serve as the technical lead for Data Center Closure Program, including assessment, planning, and execution of server, storage, networking, and application migrations to Azure.
  • Develop target-state architectures for Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS replacements based on modernization goals.
  • Coordinate across workstreams (Applications, Databases, Storage, Networking, Security, DR/COOP) to ensure end‑to‑end migration readiness.
  • Lead migration activities using Azure Migrate, Data Box, replication tools, and database modernization techniques.
  • Ensure alignment with Azure capabilities, constraints, and roadmap dependencies.

On-Premises Infrastructure & Platform Support

  • Oversee Windows Server, Linux (RHEL), and Unix server platforms during migration and decommissioning phases

  • Maintain and operate enterprise storage systems (Hitachi SAN/NAS) until retirement

  • Manage enterprise backup systems (Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity) including Azure‑integrated backup and long‑term retention strategies

  • Conduct patch management, tuning, capacity planning, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management for legacy infrastructure.

Azure Cloud Operations & Governance

  • Manage and operate Azure resources including VNets, ExpressRoute, storage, compute, identity, and security controls

  • Implement and maintain Azure governance including RBAC, Entra ID, conditional access, resource policies, cost management, tagging, and FinOps.

  • Architect secure landing zones, DMZ environments, firewall policies, and segmentation for workloads.

  • Oversee integration of on‑prem and cloud network infrastructure, including redesign of network topology during data center shutdown.

Monitoring, Logging & Incident Response

  • Implement Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel, dashboards, and automated alerting for complete infrastructure visibility

  • Lead post‑incident RCA, develop corrective actions, and enforce operational improvements for reliability and rapid recovery

  • Maintain configuration baselines, performance metrics, and operational health reporting for leadership and compliance teams.

Process Modernization, Automation & Documentation

  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, cloud adoption, performance tuning, and service optimization.

  • Maintain migration runbooks, SOPs, architectural diagrams, DR plans, and datacenter shutdown documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience (4 years experience in lieu of degree)

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure (servers, storage, backup, networking)

  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading technical engineering teams

  • 5+ years of hands-on Azure (preferably Azure Government) architecture and operations experience

  • Proven success leading cloud migrations or data center shutdowns in a regulated environment.

  • Strategic leadership of large-scale cloud migrations and data center transformations

  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration and executive reporting

  • Proactive problem-solving, crisis management, and operational decision-making

  • Ability to lead technical teams through modernization while maintaining daily operational stability

Desired:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate
  • ITIL v4 Foundation (or practical knowledge of IT Service Management principles)
  • Storage or Linux Certifications (e.g., Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE, Hitachi VSP)
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
